To build the tallest building you also have to dig the deepest foundation. Men of extraordinary insights into life have gained it only by extraordinary sacrifices & hardships.
They say higher you rise greater is the fall, but I guess this isn't what the phrase was meant to mean. My message to you all is, do not fear a fall - the steeper your fall, the higher you rise.
If you examine any successful man's life you will see that success has come to him/her only after they've made those sacrifices. It is this sacrifice that make you strong & gives you the power to rise up to your dreams. This power can only come when you hit the absolute rock bottom in life.
JK Rowling's life wasn't all 'hogwart-sy' and happy. It took her a failed marraige, single parentage, constant criticism of her impoverished parents & living in absolute poverty to hit that rock bottom. She says that there came a time when she was left with nothing else but what she really & truly was. There was not pretending, no camouflages - no alternatives but to accept what she was at that time - a failure beyond measure.
"Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."
To find an alternate path, to give up on your dreams, to cry or to breakdown midway are all options that every individual has to confront at some stage of his/her life. Some like JK Rowling choose to build a life realizing the strength of having a strong foundation, some give up before they have dug enough & settle for a small ordinary living...
Very true. Problem is unless we are pushed to the corner we do not get out of our comfort zone. And unless we get out of the comfort zone, we are not going anywhere.
